Do Not Fear
Adonai is a jealous and vengeful God. Adonai avenges; He knows how to be angry. Adonai takes vengeance on His foes and stores up wrath for His enemies.
—Nahum 1:1–3, TCJB
I was up early one morning praying when the Holy Spirit directed me to read the book of Nahum. Though it is a short book, it is powerfully encouraging. In it, the prophet Nahum prophesies judgment against Nineveh, the capital of Assyria. This brief text powerfully reminds us that our lives are in God’s hands. He watches over His people and brings judgment to those who seek to harm us.
We do not have to live in fear of anything or anyone. There is no authority greater than our God! He brings down the evil one and repays them for what they have done. Whatever seeds you plant, that is the fruit you will receive. It may take time for those seeds to grow, but the harvest is guaranteed.
My sisters and brothers, when you look at social media, the message often seems filled with fear and hopelessness—but that is not the message of our God. He calls us to look to Him, trust Him, and read His Word. When you give in to fear, you are placing your trust in Satan rather than in God. Fear is simply displaced trust.
And those who know Your name put their trust in You, for You, O Lord, have not forsaken those who seek You.
—Psalm 9:10, ESV
