God’s Direction

In trying to be efficient, I prepared a summary of the week’s post to share at the end of the week. I just needed to attach a video to the blog. The thing is every time I tried to upload the video it would give me all kinds of problems. I spent most of the day trying to get this project to work. Annoyed with the YouTube website, I just reset  the video to load overnight and I went to bed believing it would be loaded in the morning. However, when I woke the following morning only 3% of the video had begun to load!

In my heart I said, “God, really! Now what am I supposed to post?” I heard Him say, “Pull up one of your old blogs and post it.” I had no idea which blog to post but when I began to look through the list my heart fell on a certain post. Would you believe that when I posted that blog, I immediately got a response from a viewer who said it was exactly what they needed.

God knew my heart was in the right place and I was working in my assignment but I was not listening to His direction. He had to frustrate and literally stop my plan so that what He wanted could get completed. We must remember that whatever assignment God has us on, it is for His purpose and we are ministering to someone for Him. We may feel that what we are doing is not that important because it falls within our regular routine of day. But we must remember it does not matter what our day may look like we are on an assignment and God is doing great things in us!

One last thing: God loves each one of us so much that He will do whatever it takes to make sure we get the message. He may have to frustrate  someone else’s plans to get you the message because we are just that important to Him! Amen!

The Steadfast Love of God Endures

Why do you boast of evil, O mighty man? The steadfast love of God endures all the day. Your tongue plots destruction, like a sharp razor, you worker of deceit. You love evil more than good, and lying more than speaking what is right. Selah

You love all words that devour, O deceitful tongue. But God will break you down forever; he will snatch and tear you from your tent; he will uproot you from the land of the living. Selah

The righteous shall see and fear, and shall laugh at him, saying, “see the man who would not make God his refuge, but trusted in the abundance of his riches and sought refuge in his own destruction!”

But I am like a green olive tree in the house of God. I trust in the steadfast love of God forever and ever. I will thank you forever, because you have done it. I will wait for your name, for it is good, in the presence of the godly.

Psalm 52, ESV

He Did It Again!

Early this morning, sometime between 2:00 and 3:00 am, the Holy Spirit woke me up. I just laid in my bed because my body was still so tired and very sleepy. I did not want to get up. I started to pray laying in the bed, but I knew the Holy Spirit was leading me to get up. I finally got up out of the bed and headed to the restroom. As I sat there in the restroom I began to ask God to help me reverence Him. I did not want to pray as usual, but I really wanted to love God from the depths of my soul. He spoke these words to me: “He did it again.” My soul lit up!!! It is amazing how God says just a few words to our spirit and we know exactly what He means.

He said, “He did it again!” meaning He woke me this morning. He protected me from death angels; He covered me through the night; He never left me; There was no war-torn village next to my home. Everything was exactly the same when I woke up as they were when we went to sleep. I was in my right mind. I felt so humbled and so blessed that I began to pray for forgiveness for taking everything He does for granted.

God reminded me that He does this every single night. The Holy Spirit watches over us and protects us. He wakes us up with His love every morning and sometimes we can forget to say Thank you! My God, how my soul rejoiced. Now, when I wake up I say, “He did it again!!!”

Hallelujah!

Father,

It is never our desire to take you for granted. We sometimes get caught up in the routine of our lives that we forget Who is actually holding us together. Thank you for continually keeping watch over us and protecting us. We ask for forgiveness for taking you for granted and we humbly submit ourselves to you. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Adjustments

Since it had never rained in the days of Noah, I’m sure most people thought he was crazy for building an ark. Noah’s assignment made him look ridiculous in front of his peers. The Bible says that, “God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intention of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.” (Genesis 6:5, ESV). God calls us to assignments that the world can never understand because it is full of wickedness.

We live in a dark and sinful world. We cannot expect the world to understand the assignment that God has given us. All of Noah’s siblings had to know what he was building but the Bible does not say any of them offered to help. We cannot let the love for our family stop us from doing what God has assigned us to do. We have to make whatever adjustments necessary to fulfill the call on our lives. Look at Moses: he had to leave the palace to go to the dessert to fulfill his assignment.

The assignments that God has called each of us to will require us to make adjustments. It may require some embarrassment and ridicule from others but we must remember what Jesus told his disciples if they persecute me, they will do the same to you for the servant is not greater than his Lord” (John 15). Be encouraged and stay the course, for many lives will be changed as you are obedient to the call.

Overflow

Ovrflow.jpeg

God has been teaching me about coming into the overflow of his presence and allowing myself to rest in his presence. After prayer, I would normally get up and go on about my business, but God has taught me that being in the overflow is about praying and waiting to hear from Him after prayer.

One morning I was in my room praising God and listening to a song by Juanita Bynum called Overflow. The song is so powerful that I just sat in God’s presence and rested in the overflow of His abundance.

Later that morning, my husband and I decided to run some errands. I went outside through the front door of our home while my husband pulled the car out of the garage. When I stepped outside there was this big SUV parked in front of our home. The vehicle had a sign directing people around the corner to a garage sale that was being hosted.  As I moved closer to the vehicle I noticed the license plate and could not believe what I saw. The picture above is the license plate that was on the vehicle. I cannot begin to explain to you my excitement!

My husband came around to see why I was so excited, jumping up and down and taking pictures.  And at the same time the owner of the vehicle showed up. We began to talk about his license plate. He said he had to put that message on his license plate because he is operating in the overflow of God. He runs a youth ministry called overflowyouth.com. I shared with him about my time with God and we all knew that our meeting was God ordained and confirmation to the prayers that I had prayed. Indeed, God’s presence brings overflow if you sit long enough with Him.

Jesus died so we could go straight to the Father. In order to do this, we must accept Jesus as our personal Savior. We have to move past the asking stage of seeking God’s hand and seek His heart. Receiving the overflow of God means resting and waiting on God. It is making a conscious effort to sit and wait to hear God speak to your soul.

Previously when someone would say, “overflow” I was like, “Yes! I need an abundance of money and things. Let the overflow of millions flow into my life!” As I matured in the Word I learned God is all the overflow I need, not material things, as they will all pass away. The abundance of God provides for my needs and the desires of my heart.

God says that He gives all of us a measure of faith (Romans 12:3). It is up to us to mature in the level of faith God has given us.  We mature by reading the Word, through prayer and life experiences.  Faith in the spirit realm is like money in the natural realm. We need money to pay for things in this natural world but we need faith to have what we prayed for to take place in the spirit.

God’s overflow resides behind the seeking of His face, not his hand. When we sit and rest with Him this overflow is offered to anyone who seeks it. Rest in the overflow!
